Reasons to have a multi-language website

The reasons for me to have a multi-language website are as follows:

• I already had an existing website with a domain, content, backlinks and readers and wanted to keep it. Of course I simply could create an additional website. However, I wanted to use the SEO boost of the existing domain.
• I use the existing domain in my profiles on multiple platforms like Twitter, Github, Codepen and so on. There is no option to define more than one domain on these websites. Therefore, I had to use the existing domain and add multi-language support.
• I never had a multi-language website. On the one hand I wanted to learn about how to handle this from a technical point of view. On the other hand I am excited to see how the domain and traffic will develop. I already have multiple websites for years but all of them are in German language for German visitors.
• I want to improve my English writing skills. Of course, I am able to write software documentation in English language, writing blog posts is a different experience though.
